Workshop: Integrating VA Mobile Mental Health Apps Across Modalities: From Self-Care to Telehealth

This workshop teaches clinicians how to introduce patients to free mobile apps for self-care and telemental health created by the VA and Department of Defense. Very applicable to mental health in a period of social distancing, these apps are already used widely to help people manage PTSD-related symptoms and stress, and learn mindfulness and coping strategies. CE credit-optional (2.75 CME credits)

The workshop is open to all, regardless of Stanford/non-Stanford affiliation or title. Physicians (MDs and DOs) will receive 2.75 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. Psychologists and other clinicians who attend will receive a Certificate of Participation that can be submitted to their respective licensing board for credit towards license renewal (e.g. CA Board of Psychology). 

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the basic components of 2 self-care apps

  2. Introduce a mobile mental health app to a patient

  3. Explain how to create a suicide safety plan using the Safety Plan module

  4. Incorporate apps into your daily work with patients

  5. Identify to whom to submit questions, suggestions, and other feedback on VA mental health apps

  6. Create a personal implementation plan to expand your use of apps
